Just put it on my tab, Officer

Holy. We are terrible bloggers. We can explain though. The Honolulu Police Dept and Hawaii Judicial Circuit has kept us pretty busy for the past three weeks. But no matter, listen up and we'll weave you a tale which won't soon be forgotten.
First off, thanks to the $4 Driver's Ed book we purchased at Long's Drug, we passed the written test and now all have legit HAWAII Driver's Licenses.
Ya know what, I'm overwhelmed by the sheer volume of things to fill you in on, so i'm just gonna have to list. Stinks?
-Eternity beach tunnel and cave.
-Massage Mondays and Mexican Food
-Surfed with the professional surfers ("The WolfPak's out today and they're pretty aggressive...")
-Skydived on the North Shore
-Paddled out to an island inhabited with baby sea lions and demon-child sea birds
-More bugs
-Narrowly avoided getting in a fight with two big Hawaiian men and had a run in with the cops.
-MGMT concert FO FREE! (plus a little crowd surfing)
-Brendan got a mullet
-Matsumoto's shave ice on North Shore
-Blazed a trail up the side of Diamond Head Crater
-Snorkeled caves in Shark's Cove
-Wesley Phillips came and kicked it here for a week (Holla Holla)
-Snorkeled Haunama Bay again ("Here I have plenty, please don't feed me!)
-Ate at Haleiwa Shrimp Shack
-Moped rental round two on the North Shore
-Shredded the gnar at Pipeline and Backdoor on the North Shore
-Climbed up a freakin mountain in the clouds on the Koolau Range, fell off a cliff at the same mountain on the Koolau Range
-Eradicated the reef with some more spear fishing
-Piled up a potential $11,990 in fines, plus 2 years in jail, and six months of license suspension for various illegalities including but not limited to: jaywalking, prohibited entry into a Wildlife Reserve, driving a motor vehicle without insurance, trespassing, driving without registration, invalid safety check, expired vehicle tax, tags out of date, and illegal parking. (It's been taken care of, no worries braddah.)
-Bought plane tickets to the Big Island two days before leaving
-Slept in the Red Bull because we no longer had an apartment
-Sold the Red Bull for $200 and the promise of another $100 in the mail (don't hold your breath) to a Brazilian man named Marsello (love him like your own child, Marsello)
-Flew to the Hilo on the Big Island
-Hitch-hiked approximately 20 times in the course of 3 days
-Watched a river of lava flowing into the ocean in the middle of the night... truly unbelievable
-Bought $138 worth of warm clothing at Wal-Mart and returned it the next day
-Climbed Mauna Kea (the tallest mountain in the WORLD!! i'm not kidding, wikipedia that junk)
-Met some super-sweet hippies
-Camped on the beach, slept on various floors and porches
-Almost missed our flights back home 4 times. We were freakiiiin out.
-Got back to Clemson in one piece, and on to Charleston in the morning.

As the summer draws to a close, we want to thank you for all of the support you've given and the fact that some people actually take to the time to read this thing.  Looking back, we can say without the slightest hesitation that every day was lived to the fullest, that every moment was an adventure, and that friendships and memories were made that will last a lifetime and longer.  We love all of you and give all the thanks and glory to God.

Aloha and Mahalo,

Nalo... Straight Nalo continued

Psychy-bo-bikey! I'm not done yet. The previous blog post was actually from all of the angels residing at 748 Isenberg Street Apt H.  And so is this one. That is all. You stay Nalo, friends.
-The Family

Nalo... Straight Nalo

Hola, bonjour, hallo, salaam alekum, shalom, and all that good stuff. We've missed you, millions of faithful blog readers! Lindsey graciously handed over the controls of the blog to me for just this one time (she's too tired to type), so here goes nothing. The last time that we checked in, we had just received a new member of the family in the form of The Red Bull, and since then SOOOO much has happened. After Julia left us (sigh...), we bummed around the apartment for a couple of days recovering from Julia's Going-Away Bash Week of activities. Last Thursday, we celebrated the joyous occasion of Kenj-Monster's Birthday!! Hurray, she's 16! Just kidding, but seriously...  Anyway, we began our day of celebrating by treating Kendra to some all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast. Then, we rented 4 Mopeds and began a road trip of the island (can you say tourists?).  It was a blast! We took them up the East Shore of the island and saw some beautiful beaches and mountain views including Waimanalo (Nalo~ nah-lo  adj. 1. the condition of being straight thug or gangster.  2. cool, fresh.  "T.I. is such a Nalo Hustla!"), Makapu'u beach where we bodysurfed, and Kailua. We even stuck it to the man and took the mopeds outside of boundaries set by the rental agency. I know what you're thinking, we're so Nalo. That night, sunburnt and happy, we went out to dinner at Senor Frog's, gave our Kendra her presents which included a calendar of exotic Men of the Islands and a pimp chalice which said "Kenj-Daddy" in rhinestones and aluminum foil, and tried to go clubbing which ended up being unsuccessful (due to Brendan's demolished ID), but in no way was it a let down to the ending of a wonderful day. Happy Birthday Kendra!  The next day began a little more disappointingly. We obviously hadn't been giving The Red Bull the attention he deserved, so he went and broke on us. Four days, a 4th of July spent at auto parts stores, and $250 later, a sketchy guy named Pat or Pete or something that Brendan and  I met in a parking lot had The Red Bull backing in fighting shape again.  The past few days have been kind of a whirlwind consisting of Club Zanzabar, some 5 AM bedtimes, some 8:30 AM wake-up calls, and several other adventures. Ah! I almost forgot about our visitors!  We have been blessed to be graced by the presences of Crosby and Pam Ruff for the past 3 days.  Needless to say, they are AWESOME.  Several family dinners, some oh-my-freak hilarious stories, a trip to the North Shore, and a CUTCO cutlery demonstration later, we had to say goodbye to the Ruff parents as they left this morning to head back to SC.  They were gracious enough let us crash in their air-conditioned and hot-tub bearing hotel suite for a few nights, so we've been living it up like kings and queens. Tomorrow, we head for the Hawaii DMV to take our written driving tests to get Hawaii Licenses and become legit locals (which way do I turn the wheels when I'm parked downhill on a curb again?). Wish us luck! Goodbye everybody, we miss yall and we'll blog again soon. Aloooooha!

Goodbye Julia. Hello Red Bull.

So last week was Julia's last week with us, therefore, we had to accomplish as much as possible before she left...here it goes....

We went to Makapuu and hiked up the mountain to a lighthouse after the hike we ended up climbing down the side of the mountain to blow holes, which were amazing. On this particular day, we may or may not have set a record for hitchhiking. 4 times in one day!!! whoops.

The next day the boys and Julia and I headed towards the north shore where we spent the day at Waimea Bay. The boys went spear fishing and swam with giant sea turtles. It was a beautiful day that ended off with dinner and a sunset. Kendra met us up in Hale Iwa after she got off work and we went camping on the beach under the stars. We fell asleep as we watched the moon set and gazed at the mass amounts of stars. We woke up and headed for the DOLE plantation! We attempted the worlds largest maze, yet were too tired to finish it. whoops.

Kendra and Brendan headed to work and Will and I surprised Julia at the airport. It was sad but we said our goodbyes with a lei and hugs. :(

Well, this next adventure might be brief...
Due to the time and energy wasted getting around the island, it was much needed that we have a car. Therefore, the boys surprised us with a red minivan that they bought from a man named Bull. So we named the van red bull. Thats all we can really say.

The past few days we have just been catching up on our sleep for our next adventure and for the fam to come out on the 4th. what a week.

love,
lindsey, brendan, kendra, and will.

The Weekend + Monday

Friday.

When we left you last we were headed to the beach, not only to catch some rays, but also to catch some waves! Lindsey and I learned how to surf, and it may not have been extraordinarily successful, but we surfed and had a blast! Before heading to the beach we surprised Brendan at work with a visit from his favorite roommates! However, we decided not to dress up in costumes for this occasion, and he was thoroughly disappointed.

After our long day of surfing we decided what better way to ease our aching bodies than with all you can eat pancakes! We headed to a local coffee/pancake house and four orders (each) later, we may have been regretting our decision. It was a bittersweet night in the life of Will Phillips because while we were eating pancakes a hoodlum decided to steal Will's surfboard from right outside the restaurant! Lame.

Saturday.

Good Bye Luke! Sadly our friend, Luke, had to leave the island so therefore we threw him a surprise going away party in our lovely apartment. It was filled with homemade banners and personalized cookies. The boys went on one last adventure before he had to leave and then we all watched a movie. That boy is dope.

Sunday.

Happy Fathers Day! We miss our Dads! We went to church at One Love where we met Lukes other friends...since it was Fathers Day, hula dancers performed a graceful and beautiful dance for the dads. After church we all hopped in the Vannagan, Grants sweet ride. The boys hiked Maunawili. Where they witnessed beautiful waterfalls. That night we sent Luke off to the airport, sad. We finished the night off as tourist in Waikiki and ate a delicious dinner together where they leid us.

We are currently on the lookout for a van to excentuate our trip.

Wednesday && Thursday

Wednesday.

Lindsey and I (Julia) decided to start our day early with a trip to the Aloha Flea Market where we found endless amounts of junk with the occasional treasure hidden amongst the mess. After a long morning of exploring the flea market we worked up an appetite and decided to get some grub before our snorkeling trek!!! We enjoyed a delicious meal with Luke and Will, and then a friendly man in a sketchy unmarked van offered to take us to Hanauma Bay. He told us $5, and we said no thanks, and then he came back and said $3 and we said okay!

We arrived safely at Hanauma Bay and were ready to hit the reef! It was so much fun snorkeling, and we forgot to mention our most important purchase of the morning was snorkeling gear from the flea market! Needless to say our masks leaked but we saw so many beautiful fish, and even got to swim with/pet/chase giant sea turtles! It was a great day.

After making a delicious meal at home after a long adventurous day, we walked to a nearby field to enjoy the stars once again amongst the glow of the city lights.

Thursday.

Lindsey's summer class led her on a trek up to North Shore to embrace different cultures at the Hawaiian Polynesian Cultural Center. Kendra and Will decided to accompany her on her journey and hit the beach while Lindsey enjoyed her learning experience. She felt like the ultimate tourist, but really enjoyed her day of learning and she can even crack open a coconut all by herself! If you would like a hula dancing demonstration Lindsey is your girl.

While the others were enjoying a day in North Shore, Julia and Brendan studied, worked, surfed, and almost played tennis. It was a great day!

Thursday night came fast and ended up being like most nights around the apartment where everyone falls asleep in the living room on the floor.

Well today is Friday and it looks like were heading to the beach so be on the look out for our next blog! We miss everyone and send our love and some Aloha Spirit along your way!

Julia. Lindsey. Kendra. William. Brendan.

will, we beg you to get rid of your mattress.

Highlights from Oahu:

After missing our bus stop we had to walk 2 miles in the opposite direction to hit up Sandy Beach. The waves were bigger than ever (20 feet) and we were thoroughly entertained as bodies were tossed in the swell. You know your local when your at the beach all day and have 30 minutes to make it to work across an island. Therefore hitchhiking was a necessity this time, (as most times it is). Kendra and Will made a new friend, Justin and he happily drove them home safe and sound.

After a long day at the beach we decided what better way to end the night than with a little club hoppin...
So we jumped right into our city life and hit up the clubs, thats right...Zanzibar night club. Four hours later we head home after enjoying a classy evening of gettin our groove on. Dear all moms reading this, don't judge us for our endeavors, you taught us well!

The next eventful night brought the boys dressing up in gypsy clothes (thank you Devika) to have a delicious dinner and to be hosted by Kendra. Yes, we embarrassed her immensely as she worked and it was so worth it!

The weekend was somewhat uneventful filled with working and food poisoning, however, we managed to end it well. It all started with an unexpected spotting of Wee Man (pro skateboarder, viva la bam, and other movies) he is short and funny. So we just chilled with him on the beach. Well not really, but he was near by.

Have we mentioned how bold, daring, and adventurous the boys are? Well some may call it that, but we question what goes on in their brain sometimes. It all started with costumes (just wait for the new picture posts). To make a long story short, the boys leaped from a little ledge into a little pool while wearing one piece swimsuits, snorkeling gear, and capes. It was comical and beyond ridiculous.

Family dinner took its course tonight and MY OH MY it was ONO (hawaiian terminology for delicious). We popped the Martinellis, said a little toast and enjoyed a lovely evening star gazing past the city lights.

On to our next adventures to come...

Sidenote: If you are wanting new knives or cutlery please contact William Phillips at your best conveinence and he will gladly arrange appointments and get you the hook up!

Goodbye Couch.

It has been a while, so we must catch our lovely blog readers up on our crazy lives...
Last week we ended the weekend with jobs and hanging out in waikiki. It has been great to people watch, lay out, and hang out downtown. Our lives have been a bit crazy so here is what each of us have been doing...

Will enjoys waking up at 6 am to surf, fix his bike petals, and provide the family with fresh fruit or free furniture from the streets.

Brendan enjoys getting hit on at work his first night, long boarding, and stringing his guitar.

Kendra has been occupied with mites all over her body, I wonder where she got them? She is currently in the process of starting a new job at a restaraunt here in HI.

Julia and Lindsey have been nannying and studying for summer school. We also love to hitchhike and make new friends with Orlando.

Will, Brendan, and Kendra hiked Manoa Falls and possibly went swimming in the fresh filled waterfalls. In our freetime, we have gone to the park a block away where we kill time playing frisbee before we all go to work. Oh how we love $1 movies...we trecked across town and enjoyed a great night of movies and family dinner.

We look forward to our next adventure together!

Peace and Love,
The Family.

Goodbye fleas, hello birdies.

Today was not quite as adventurous as the past few have been, however, the good news is that (we think) the bugs are out of our sofa. After a trip to Wal-mart to pick up some bug killer we successfully doused our sofa in chemicals and now the bugs are in a better place.

As for the birdies...Let's just say that Will and Brendan thought it would be cool to lure birds into our home with cereal crumbs. Upon returning home from a trek to the beach, Kendra enters:

Kendra (flustered): "PEOPLE!!! there are birds in our house!!!"

Boys (silent, stare): "Can you stay in the back for a while? We don't want you to scare the birds away."

The End.

We went to midweek service tonight, and loved it as always!!!

That's all for today, we miss everyone and send our love!

Yes, our sofa has FLEAS.

Dearest loyal blog followers,

We sincerely apologize for the past week or so with no posts. It's been craaaaaazy! We have a new home, new friends, and new jobs, well kind-of.

Instead of recapping each day moment by moment, we decided it would be beneficial to make the most of your time and our time just including the highlights.

One week ago we arrived at the airport greeting Kendra, Brendan, and Will with Aloha spirit. They loved it, and soon enough we made the trek to our new place. Upon opening the door we began to sweat, and in fact we haven't stopped sweating to this day. The new kids decided it would be in their best interest to begin job searching immediately, and 2 days later they have jobs, but Will has decided to play hard to get, and skips job interviews to go camping. Needless to say, he is still looking.

Sidenote: We made a few extra friends!!!!!!! Shout out to Luke from Knoxville, TN and Darla, well she is from Hawaii, and her hips don't lie.

Well, to begin our adventures we started out with a trip to Don Quijote. It was an experience and as we thought of it to be a grocery store it was actually an asian supermarket. We proceeded our trek to the bus with one million groceries in hand (including a watermelon).

Twenty bananas, a coconut, and a pummelo were found on Kahala Beach by Will and Brendan. We can always count on them for providing the food for the family. They'll even go to the top of a tree to pick us the freshest fruit. Julia found a new fruit in the ocean called a pummelo, we renamed it a seatrus -get it- citrus.

The next day we headed to the beach once again, however, our plans were delayed once we spotted a beautiful sofa on the side of the road. Some kind person knew that we were in need, and decided to leave theirs in their pile of trash along with a chair and a mattress. We rolled all of them down the 4 blocks to our house and now we have furniture, and Will has a bed, with fleas. After a long hot day of rearranging furniture we headed to China town with hopes of seeing Amos Lee in Concert. Well, we didn't quite make it into the show, but instead we had a personal show on the sidewalk with the other people that didn't get into the show. Amos Lee, what a cool guy!

**As we sit and type this blog, Lindsey is killing fleas on Brendan that have escaped from our sofa. SICK.

After church on Sunday we headed to the North Shore, and introduced Will, Brendan, and Kendra to Acai Bowls and Pipeline Beach. They loved both, and we had a splendid day in the sun!

Yesterday (Monday) was quite a long day, and at approximately 10 pm we decided to catch the 10:30 bus to Waimanalo Bay, and camp out on the beach. We weren't quite sure where the bus went, and after asking the bus driver for some help he brought us to the beach and we walked to find a spot. After passing some local folks already camping out, we decided to take a stroll down the beach to find a good spot. We found what seemed to be a good spot, and set up camp! Some of us slept, and some of us kept watch of the flashlights down the beach gradually moving towards us. They seemed to be searching for something, and I guess that now is a good time to mention that camping is illegal on the beach. Oops must have been a cop. They gradually got too close for comfort and we peaced out to the 7-11 a few miles down the road. After we had a late night/morning snack we were soon greeted by a friendly fellow named William. Let's just say that an hour later we had said 3 words and he gave us a lot of great advice. By that time the sun was rising and we made our way back to the beach to watch it. It was SO incredible and gorgeous to watch. After the sun rose we threw up a couple of hammocks in the greatest "bungalow" tree that there ever was. We passed out for a few hours, and then, 7 hours later Will is currently the color of hmm.. Cheerwine?

Ok we will keep y'all updated, this is only the beginning of many great adventures!

Much Love from the roomates,

Wendy, Hulia, KeEEG, Wilma, Brenda

May 24, 2009

Currently, I am watching Julia stomp on a village of ants making their home right next to our twin air mattress. It makes us excited to move into our new apartment tomorrow!

WOW our friends will be here soon (tuesday) and we can only imagine our adventures when they get here. Brendan, Will, and Kendra oh my were so excited. Be prepared and have a safe flight.

ok so to catch up on a few days...

Friday we headed to the North Shore once again. Its our favorite*. We ate acai bowls and went to pipeline beach again. Pipeline is usually flat in the summer, but not today. The current was really strong and for the second day in a row, a wave crashed on us. My book for school was completely drenched. Do you think my teacher will believe me when I turn my homework in and say "excuse the soggy paper and sand?" To end the night we ended the night with Sushi on Waikiki and watched the beautiful sunset.

Saturday we did a little more job searching. Bahahaha. We then went to babysit where we sat in the hot tub, pool, and worked out. I parted ways with Julia and she stayed with Sean.

Sunday we went to One Love. After church, we got lunch (acai bowls) and went to Sandy Beach. Sandy Beach is known as the number one neck injury/back injury capital in the world. It was amusing watching the body surfers, boogie boarders, and tourists get dominated by the enormous waves. Sandy beach is located right where 50 first dates was filmed* We are just enjoying the weekend and Memorial Day before looking for more jobs this next week. We will inform you all soon. So keep praying. Our Lord is awesome and mighty and we are so blessed to be here. We love you all!!!!

shaloha (shalom + aloha),

May 21, 2009

May 20:

As we headed to the Ala Moana Center we hiked through the graveyard again and got on the bus. This time, we made friends with the bus driver, Ernie. He was precious and we talked to him for a while. Lets just say we got all day bus passes. We will now be on the look out for Ernie.

Julia and I had a couple interviews and they went great. One was a lovely group interview, those always make me laugh. We are just waiting to hear back...

We ate our usual dinner (pizza) and hung out last night at the house. It was great to sit back and relax.

May 21:

Julia and I woke up and went to the private beach, Black Point. Its wonderful, sometimes.
Its a very narrow beach, so as we were laying there a wave came and literally crashed right on us. Lets just say my phone may not be working :(  It was hilarious as we searched for our things underneath the water.

Hiking was on our agenda today! We hiked Manoa Falls. It was beautiful and at the top was a giant waterfall.

Now we know where to go for free food. Sample aisles at Whole Foods was a great appetizer to our delicious dinner. We headed back to the house to eat and watch a movie. It was a great day and were going to North Shore tomorrow. Our favorite place :)

Keep in touch,
Julia and Lindsey

Funny Story:

As we were hiking through to Manoa Falls, Julias favorite animal, birdies, pooooped on her arm! It was hilarious and sick. Wish you all could have seen that wonderful sight. Much love.

May 18 & 19

Monday:

Now if we decided to go job searching everyday that would be no fun, AND we would miss out on all of the beautiful places around us! So, we spent Monday at the beach. The end.

Tuesday:

No crazy adventures today, but, today was a good day! It's always a good day when you find money on the ground! Yes, thats right, so much for a job I find money on the streets of Honolulu! Just kidding, we are still looking for jobs. This morning we met with another lady that Wendy AKA Lindsey had found to baby sit for, and hmm, I think we'll just leave it at that.

We applied for a job at Quicksilver and we have an INTERVIEW tomorrow!!! Keep us in your prayers because we also have a second interview tomorrow so that makes 2 in one day. Other than that, we didn't do too much, but we did spend our first 4 hours apart since the past 2 weeks! I have been so blessed to have met an awesome lady with a son, Sean, and I got to babysit him tonight. It was fun, but I missed Wendy as she went exploring without me!

Random fact of the day:

If you are ever in Hawaii and someone asks you if you "burn" they are NOT talking about a sunburn. Let's just say they are referring to another activity commonly referred to as well...smoking...weed. Now you all are prepared, just say NO!

May 17, 2009

Saturday:

Wooo Hooo, We had the lovely chance to meet the lady we will be babysitting for.
We met her in the Ala Moana Center and she was so sweet. We will be watching her 4 year old son Sean.

It was a much needed relaxing day and ended with dinner on the beach, movies, and ice cream. :)

Sunday:

Today we went to church, one love.

We studied a little at Barnes & Noble and met up with Charlotte (the lady we babysit for) and met her son Sean, he is adorable. She took us to her apartment, which was gorgeous. We feel so blessed to have met them, she has provided us with so much already and were excited to be here for the summer!

Keep us in your prayers as we continue this lovely journey.

peace & love.

May 15

As we sit and (study) and listen to the mouse squeaking inside of our wall, we reminisced about our day. So, here it goes.

After once again enjoying incredible acai bowls we decided to hit the beach. Lanikai was where we ended up, and it was so fun! At all of the other beaches we have been to the water has been freezing but since the shore at Lanikai is really shallow the water was warm, and we went swimming. It was a much needed day off from job searching.

And now, about those jobs, NO we do not have one.

Please make any and all donations to:

Mahalo! (Thank You)

Funny Story: (Not really, I guess you could call it strange though)

After deciding to take a stroll around the neighborhood we heard a "caw cawing" sound. We looked around, and didn't see anything. It was coming from above. Who knew roosters could fly? But evidently this one could because it was in a tree. If you would like to see the video footage please contact Lindsey.

Dear Lauren,

Good Morning! Better dominate that Finance Test today! We miss you!

May 14, 2009

HOLY COW, one week has flown by.

Morning came and we hopped off our twin air mattress that we share, ready to start our day!

Our walk to the bus stop through the graveyard was beautiful as always as we dodged 200 chickens crossing our paths. We went into ala moana, and spent the day yep, you guessed it, searching for jobs hahaha    ah!

We went to several stores and ended up at rip curl, we made friends. Well, today we forgot our packed lunch (pb&j and cheez its) so we ate at a local restaurant. It was delicious.

Tonight, we were able to go to Young Life here at a private high school, that Obama went to. It was really awesome to meet some of the high schoolers and leaders. We had so much fun!

Funny Happening:

Julia: Lindsey, "why is the water so high in the toilet?"

Lindsey: "i have no idea, jenn whats wrong with the toilet?"

Jenn: "im not sure" (flushes the toilet)

Toilet: Explodes with gushing water covering the entire floor and we RAN.
*guess it was broken...

Have a wonderful night, we miss and love all.

May 13

We have just ended our 3rd day of job searching, and we are still searching! However, the day was successful, and we got a babysitting job for Friday so we will be making at least a little bit of money!

Morning came and we began our long trek to the bus stop, but the good news is we found a short cut through the grave yard! This morning we were greeted by a family of wild chickens that decided to make their home among the graves. It was scary and we ran fast. We made it to the bus stop and even to our first job interview! Little did we know that what we thought was an interview for the 2 of us turned into an interview for approximately 200 friendly Hawaiians seeking employment. Anyways, our interviews went smoothly and we proceeded down Waikiki to Cold Stone (don't laugh at us) but yes, we applied to scoop ice cream all day.

Next stop, bus stop to meet with a lady about a potential nannying job. What we thought would be a simple ride to a near by location turned into a 2 hour, yes that's right, 2 hour wait at a bus stop. We got on the WRONG bus, but a kind bus driver helped us out and gave us 4 free all day bus passes. Yes! After arriving in the general area of where our appointment was we proceeded to ask a UPS man where the house was. He showed us the way, we had our meeting, and now we have a job for Friday. Woo Hoo!

This isn't supposed to sound like we have no idea what we are doing or where we are going, but once again we managed to get on the wrong bus. As soon as we realized we were headed in the wrong direction we decided to make everything better and get ICEEs. We crave them a lot. Long story short, we made it home, and went to Mid-week church service.

Church (One Love) was incredible, and we really enjoyed it!

Shout out to Kendreezy, Brenda, & Wilma: We are really excited for you to experience One Love and can't wait for you to come explore with us!!!!!!

Favorite memory of the day: Yogurt Land was discovered, slightly better than Yogurt Mama.

Mahalo (Thank You) for reading about our crazy lives. We miss you all!

Did we mention that there are birds every where? Fact.

May 12

Aloha family, friends, and any other creepers that are reading this. Today is our 6th day on the beautiful island of Oahu, and our second marvelous day of searching for jobs.

Since we are just now creating this blog, we thought we would catch you up on what we have been doing!

Day One. First class, up in the sky. Mai Tai, living the life. Needless to say, it was glamorous. We arrived our house for the next two weeks, dropped our stuff, and went looking for a beach. 5 miles later, we see one, and get our first glimpse of how beautiful Oahu is! We walked down the beach until we realized how dehydrated we were, and start walking to find the nearest drink spot. A friendly asian family hanging out in their mini van helped us out, and led us to the nearest McDonald's! We had never been so happy to see a McDonald's. The End.

Day Two. After waking up at 6 am, we went and saw our apartment, and met our precious tenant, Devika. The apartment is small, cozy, plenty of Buddha portraits, floor pillows, and no AC. We love it! But, we are looking forward to Will finding us a luxurious, FREE couch! After that, we drove with Jenn (the friend we are staying with) through the mountains and it rained, only to be greeted on the other side by beautiful weather and  beautiful Kailua beach! Yogurt Mama, the world's best frozen yogurt, was also discovered.

Day Three. Jenn went to work so we were on our own to explore again! We walked up the street, took a couple of turns, and yet again ended up at a beautiful beach with unbelievable homes! After eating our picnic lunch (the same one of PB&J and Cheez-its we eat every day) we decided to head back, and we able to bum a ride to Waikiki. We explored Waikiki, and found our new favorite store, Rip Curl, and our new favorite (surfer) friends.

Funny Story- Lindsey's addiction to coffee led us into a quaint coffee shop, and as we watched tourists go by we were also watching the couple sitting next to us eat their delicious BOX of cookies. All of the sudden, they got up and left in a hurry, leaving their precious box of cookies behind.

Julia: "Lindsey, grab that box"
Lindsey: "Yes!" (grabs box, stuffs into purse)
We: run out the door, across the road, and on to pool chairs to enjoy hula dancers as we eat our delicious cookies

Sidenote- After our beautiful day on the newly found beach, Jenn told us that it was a private beach (Black Point) only accessible by gate. Somehow we seemed to miss the gate? Whoops.

Day Four. One Love! Our new church home. Mother's Day was celebrated with beautiful hula dancers doing a special dance for moms. The church service/worship/everything was great, and we even got leid!

After church we headed up to the North Shore, our new favorite place! The drive was incredible and we even got to see where a bunch of different movies were filmed. Pipeline was the beach choice of the day, and for those of you who don't know, is also the number one surf break in the world! We stopped by a local cafe, and got to enjoy acai bowls. These amazing treats consist of acai smoothie topped with honey, granola, and fresh bananas. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Sidenote- We found the road to Jack Johnson's house, and ALMOST found him!

Day Five. Long, hot day of job searching and figuring out how to work THEBUS. No jobs yet...what an adventure!

Quote of the day:
(Julia to Lindsey upon exiting the bus to walk home just after dark)

"Get your magazines out to whack them*!"

*them= creepers we could encounter on our walk from the bus stop home

Day Six. TODAY!!! Job searching, yet again. However, before we began the search, we decided to take a nice casual stroll to Kinko's, all for summer school. Little did we know that the nearest one (we were told 4 blocks) turned into 4 miles. But we made it!

Well folks, that's all for now. It's 5 minutes until 8:00, and that is our bedtime! Seriously.
